5 Reasons to Renew Your Vows

Five Reasons to renew your vows.

If you are thinking about doing something unique and personal as a way to celebrate your anniversary or looking to reaffirm your commitment to your spouse, maybe a renewal ceremony is something to consider. There are several reasons couples opt to renew their vows. The most popular reason couples decide to have a vow renewal ceremony is they have reached a milestone in their relationship. Another reason for a vow renewal ceremony is the couple did not have their dream wedding the first time around. Or maybe they have gone through a rough patch in their marriage, and want to let the world know they have come through it together and still going strong. A couple could simply want to celebrate the life they have built together. Mother Nature could also be a reason for a renewal ceremony. The first ceremony was ruined by rain, snow or an earthquake. Basically, you can have a renewal ceremony for whatever reason you deem worth celebrating your marriage.

There are fun options you have in planning your renewal ceremony that were not necessary available when you planned your first wedding. Since you are already married, there are no legalities and the ceremony is not a legally binding ceremony. Think about how special it would be to have your child, sibling or close friend officiate your ceremony. This time around you can personalize your ceremony around the life you have built with your spouse. Use your renewal ceremony to reflect on all you have accomplished over the years together as man and wife. When writing your vows, tell your love story. How it all began, how you met, your first date, or when you brought your first child home from the hospital. Celebrate the family you created and let the world know you would do it all over again. Incorporate the same song you danced to for your first dance at your first wedding in your renewal ceremony. If you want to go all out, you could plan a romantic destination ceremony this time around, why not? You have worked hard over the years, celebrate your love and life together in the Bahamas or Hawaii. However, if you are considering parties before your renewal ceremony, reconsider. Bachelor and bachelorette parties are not acceptable under any circumstances. You’re married and no longer a bachelor or bachelorette. Finally, the most important part of your ceremony will be your photos that will last you a lifetime. If you are inviting guests and having a reception, you want to hire a professional photographer. You will need a photographer to capture your memories of this special day.
